about me

I am a mom of two, wife, daughter, sister, granddaughter, cousin, niece, aunt, friend, student, photographer, writer, teacher, and wanderer. I’ve finished the journey called law school, minding the bumps and ignoring the bruises I’ve received along the way, passed the bar exam and been sworn in as an attorney in Iowa. This blog? It’s sort of my coping mechanism. It starts it the middle of the summer between my 1L and 2L years. If you want to know more about me or 1L year (or even before that), check out my old site: http://myterranullius.wordpress.com.

Why exhibit L? My blog is about life, law, learning, laughter, love, and leisure. Plus, my last name (Larson) and nickname (Lisslo) start with L. And…there’s a bit of alliteration if you say it out loud. It just seemed to fit.

What else do you need to know? Well, I’m generally a happy person. I adore spending time with my husband of fourteen years. We’re thoroughly enjoying spending time with our two children (ages 2 and 5 months). I love learning and a good challenge. Among my closest and best friends, I count my husband, mother, cousin, and two sisters-in law (and I consider myself unbelievably lucky). I am an attorney, and maybe want to be a law professor or judge someday. I want two or three children. Being a mother is the best thing I have ever done, hands down. If I erased all the song lyrics in my memory, I’d be about 10,000 times smarter. I love the smell of rain. I am a book worm. I am a recovering Dr. Pepper addict. I wish I could speak Spanish fluently. And French. And Latin. And Farsi. And Mandarin. I’m slowly but surely working my way through “1000 Places to See Before you Die.” Sometimes I wonder how I ever lived without my iPod. I enjoy people watching, and sometimes am inspired to start a short story based on something I see. I miss writing poetry, but don’t feel like writing it very often. I could watch Gilmore Girls every day, and never grow tired of it. I want to explore the world around me and take nothing but amazing photographs of it. I love being in love. When I know what I want, nothing can stop me from working hard to get it.

  1. Hello there! Found your blog from your comment! I love the banner at the top. Daisies are my favorite flower and orange is my favorite color!

  2. I noticed that you posted some interesting articles on your blawg. I was wondering if you would check out my website, LegallyNoted.com. It’s a law school note-sharing website.

LegallyNoted.com is ideal for students who feel like a court reporter taking down every last word from the professor; are sick of waiting days for a professor to respond to a question; no longer can afford the expensive and generic commercial study aids; or simply cannot make it to class.

I would greatly appreciate it if you would link my blog to yours and I will do the same.

  3. The cancellation of Gilmore Girls was one of the tragedies of my adult life. Go Rory!

    I also own “1,000 Places”!

Hi, I am Juliet. I am a junior attorney and neophyte blogger and I recently found your website. I hope that you will consider this invitation to join a new web ring, “The Bob Loblaw Attorney & Law Student Web Ring”.

(Add “Arrested Development” to your Netflix queue if you aren’t familiar with the Bob Loblaw reference–I highly recommend it!)

Although I have been blogging for only a short time, I have discovered that there are a lot of good sites written by law students and new practitioners, covering a wide range of topics. Finding these blogs, however, is often a long and winding road. Hence, the recent brainstorm to create this web ring connecting the sites to one another.

I hope that you will consider joining. The host entity, Webring.com is a highly rated web ring service and will not sell or trade your personal information. It is also easy to join. The anticipated result? With a little publicity and a little time we can build a community of sorts, bringing new and growing traffic to worthwhile blogs.

The link to join is: http://E.webring.com/hub?ring=bobloblawjuniora

Once you go to the above link and click on “sign in” near the top right, you will need to go through a short sign-up process. At the end, you will be given several lines of code to copy and paste onto your blog’s homepage. After that, I can officially approve your entry into the ring and you will be connected to the other sites joining.

Thank you and good luck during exams!
